2 dogs killed after a car crashes into an Omaha home


A family is mourning two beloved dogs who were killed after a car crashed into their home.The crash happened Sunday evening near 42nd and Spencer streets. On Monday, the dogs’ owner Amanda Tew said a piece of their family is gone. She fought back tears showing a picture of Bama and Luna.”They’re my babies, they’re my kids. They were my children,” Tew said.She said at the time of the crash, her dogs were in the yard and she heard a loud noise.”It was just a big boom and the house shook” and when she rushed to the door “I had to snatch the door open because it was jarred.” Her dogs were gone.”My white dog was over here dead, I couldn’t see my brown dog nowhere. She snapped the leash and drug him all the way out there to the white skid mark in the road,” Tew said.The crash is still under investigation, but the car crashed through a yard, taking out steps, and a fence, killing the dogs and ended in a nearby yard where it caught fire.”If I would’ve been outside I probably would’ve been the one hurt because they would’ve been back in that house quick,” Tew said.Omaha police confirmed to KETV NewsWatch 7 that a woman was arrested.Tew said, “I saw her climbing out of her car and I said oh no and took off running after her… Never seeing them again, having heartbroken children and I’m not ever going to be able to replace them.”
